The Housing Development Board (HDB) will be carrying out improvement works to all void deck columns of older HDB apartment blocks as part of pro-active maintenance measures for such blocks. These measures may include repairs to spalling concrete and other defects, if any.
The improvement works will be carried out at the HDB apartment blocks in Eunos Constituency in year 2010 listed below :-
i. Blk 616 Bedok Reservoir Road
ii. Blk 621 Bedok Reservoir Road
iii. Blk 627 Bedok Reservoir Road
iv. Blk 628 Bedok Reservoir Road
v. Blk 629 Bedok Reservoir Road
Typically, the works at each block will take about two to three weeks to complete. This depends on the total number of columns at the block and whether there is a need to relocate/reinstate some existing facilities such as switchboard and telecom trunking.
The works will be carried out at the void decks. Residents of the affected blocks will be informed in advance via a notice which will be displayed on the block’s notice board. During this period, the HDB appointed contractor will ensure minimum inconvenience.

The marathon went from 9am-9pm. It concluded with a lucky draw by our Guest-of-Honour, Mr Lin Tze Kin PBM, Chairman, Eunos Community Club Management Committee.
This marathon session wouldn’t be a success if not for the hardworking organising committee led by Mdm Sim Lai Ngin, Vice-Chairperson for Eunos Zone ‘3′ RC.

In the recent concluded polling for the HDB Lift Upgrading Programme (LUP) and the Aljunied Town Council LUP, majority of the residents have said “YES!” to lift upgrading. As such, lifts that stop at every storey would be available to Eunos Heights residents!

Lift Upgrading Programme
The LUP was launched by our MP, Mr Zainul Abidin Rasheed, who is also Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Also present at the ceremony was HDB Deputy CEO (Building) Mr Sng Cheng Keh and Eunos Citizens’ Consultative Committee Chairman Mr Sim Wai Chin, BBM.

Mr Zainul addressing residents
In his speech, Eunos Zone ‘3′ RC Chairman Mr Sawaran Singh welcomed residents and thanked residents for their support over the 26 years. The RC was also celebrating its 26th Anniversary along with the launching ceremony. Indeed, the chairs were all filled up before the ceremony begun.
Preparation for the HDB LUP took months of liaison between grassroots leaders and HDB. In order for the LUP to kick off, 75% residents of the block must cast their votes, out of which there must be a majority that want the lifts.
There were 2 blocks of flats in Eunos Zone ‘3′ that only had 15 eligible voters each. With the small number of voters, it meant that if a good 6 families did not turn up, there will be no lift upgrading for those blocks. As such, grassroots leaders from the Residents’ Committee (RC) visited the residents, house-to-house, to encourage them to participate in the voting.
The efforts paid of and now residents would enjoy the benefit of a more convenient way of going in and coming out of their homes.
